Pilates

Pilates, (Puh-LAH-teez) was developed by Joseph H.  Pilates and was originally called “contrology”.  Joseph H. Pilates was an ill child but became an avid exercise enthusiast studying different methods of exercise.  The exercises encompass over 500 controlled, precise movements performed on the floor or on specifically designed apparatuses to lengthen, strengthen, and stretch muscles without adding bulk.  The Pilates method of exercise focuses on breathing, concentration, core engagement, postural alignment, flexibility, and strength.  It is a method of exercise suitable to most everyone.

What are the benefits of Pilates?
